FAQ

Do you offer virtual therapy across Ontario?

Yes, sessions are online via secure video.

Who do you work with?

I welcome individuals, couples, and teens, including first responders, military members and their families, those experiencing grief, bereavement, and end-of-life, and neurodiversity (ADHD and autism-affirming care).

What happens in the free 15-minute consult?

A brief video or phone call to confirm fit, answer questions, and outline next steps. It’s not a therapy session, but it helps us decide whether to proceed.

How long are sessions and how often do we meet?

Standard sessions are 60 minutes. Frequency is collaborative, often weekly to start, adjusted to your goals, schedule, and resources.

What is your approach to therapy?

My orientation is psychodynamic and humanistic, informed by psychoanalytic and existential thought. In practice: thoughtful reflection on patterns plus practical steps you can use between sessions.

Do you work with teens?

Yes, online across Ontario. We set clear boundaries so teens feel safe to speak, while caregivers stay appropriately informed.

How does confidentiality work?

Your privacy matters. Session content is confidential except where required by law (e.g., imminent risk of harm, abuse/neglect concerns, or court orders). We’ll review limits of confidentiality at intake.

How does confidentiality work for teens?

Teens deserve privacy to speak openly. I explain confidentiality in plain language and review legal limits. With the teen’s consent, I share general progress with caregivers, no session details unless safety is involved or we all agree.

Do you offer autism-affirming and ADHD-informed care?

Yes. Sessions adapt to sensory and communication preferences, with concrete executive-function supports (time, task, routines) and pacing that fits your nervous system.

Do you understand first-responder and military culture?

Yes. I bring experience with operational stress, cumulative trauma, moral injury, hyper-vigilance, shift work, and the impact on relationships, without dulling the edge you rely on to do the job.

Can you help with grief and end-of-life concerns?

Yes. I provide space for sorrow, shock, anger, and love, and support conversations about legacy, faith, fear, and practical planning around illness and caregiving.

Do you offer couples therapy?

Yes, virtual across Ontario. We identify the cycle that keeps you stuck, make hard conversations safer, and practice skills for better communication, repair, and teamwork (including in first-responder/military families).

What are your fees?

Individual (60 min): $180

Couples (60 min): $225

Payment: Visa, Mastercard, American Express, e-Transfer. Receipts provided for insurance.

Do you offer direct billing?

Yes, with your authorization. Direct billing is available to many insurers, including Medavie Blue Cross (VAC) and others. See the Services & Fees page for the full current list.

Is therapy covered by my benefits?

Coverage varies by plan and insurer. Please check your policy for Registered Psychotherapist eligibility, session limits, and any referral/diagnosis requirements.

Do you see clients outside Ontario?

Yes, where permitted. Therapy services for clients outside Ontario are offered only when allowed by the licensing and regulatory requirements in the client’s location. Please reach out to confirm availability in your area.

What technology do I need?

A private space, a stable internet connection, and a device with camera/mic (computer, tablet, or phone). Headphones can help with privacy and sound.

What if I need to cancel or reschedule?

Please give 24 hours’ notice to avoid the full session fee. We’ll review the policy at intake.

Do you provide emergency or crisis services?

No. If you’re in immediate crisis, call 911, go to your nearest emergency department, or contact your local crisis line. Email is not monitored for emergencies.

Will you collaborate with my doctor, school, or another provider?

With your written consent, yes. Collaboration can improve continuity of care (e.g., sharing general recommendations or coordination for accommodations).

Do you write notes for school or work?

On a case-by-case basis and within scope, I can provide brief letters that reflect attendance/participation, not clinical opinions outside my role. We’ll discuss what’s appropriate.

What languages do you offer?

English and Persian.

How do you handle privacy?

I follow Ontario and federal privacy laws for health information and use secure systems for records and video sessions. See the site Privacy Policy for details.

How soon can I start?

After the consult and intake paperwork, we’ll schedule your first session as soon as we have a mutually available time.
